My Daddy, Everett Green, went to school with Howard, so I would call Oma Lee from time to time after my parents parents passed or run into Howard at Wal-Mart. Oma always talked so kind and patient to me. At some points I didn't have a phone and lost contact. Howard and I would talk about Everett, his wife Inez Sweeton Green and her sister he knew Marie Sweeton Nunley from Nunley Dry Goods.Oma Lee was beautiful and compassionae! I salute a fine lady!
This morning in the wee hours I lost a very good friend. I loved her so much. She was one of my most favorite people in the whole world. I told her often and she knew it. We became friends when I was 11 and she around 40 at the time. She accepted me for me. She knew me through and through. I’ll miss her so much. She carried herself with such dignity and was always impeccably dressed. She always had a smile and a laugh that would light up any room. I always aspired to be more like her. Her integrity, her spirit and her presence were beyond compare. Everyone loved Oma Lee Lewis. She’ll be greatly missed.
